Ross: Why not just say the magic words to fund the wall?

Yesterday, we heard that the negotiators trying to avert a government shutdown had reached a compromise.
But then what did we hear next? Outraged pundits pulling the fire alarm the moment they saw that the agreement had less than a quarter of what the president wants for the fence-barrier-slat wall — or whatever we’re calling it.

Why are you guys saying this? The fact that there is any money for that wall – unless that money is in Pesos – is the real outrage. Yet we hear only silence on that – which is my whole point. The wall wasn’t supposed to cost us anything.
How can you possibly be outraged that Congress would want to pay less for a fence-barrier-slat wall – that was supposed to be free?
So how about you just ignore the wall numbers, the way you ignore the other numbers you used to care about, like the national debt – which just passed $22 trillion.
How about, for the good of the country, we get all the commentators on MSNBC and FOX to patriotically collude with each other and say: “Mr President, this is a great deal! By signing it, you’re getting a great price on a beautiful fence-barrier-slat wall that is going to make America secure like it’s never been before.”
If you would all just say that on TV, during executive time, the government would stay open and we might finally get around to cutting prescription drug prices and even fixing a bridge or two.
