Ross: Shaming leaders for maskless photos ignores the real story

In Georgia, Stacey Abrams, a Democratic candidate for governor, recently appeared maskless in a classroom of masked children.

Magic Johnson previously tweeted photos of himself maskless next to Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, later explaining that he was holding his breath during the incriminating photo, and put on his mask immediately after.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed – also seen maskless. Even Dr. Fauci has been caught with his mask down in public. I’m shocked he wasn’t arrested for indecency.

These stories are catnip for all people who consider mask mandates bogus.

Although they’re also ignoring the real story, which is that we all now have a means of self-defense: access to amazing vaccines and real masks – N95s – which are electrically charged to trap viruses and can protect you from a roomful of infected, unmasked people.

In reality, the unmasked people in those photographs were only putting themselves at risk. Everybody else was masked.

The headline should be: “Stacy Abrams Endangers Own Health for Photograph.”

It’s too bad we can’t reverse the earth’s rotation back to the beginning of the pandemic and see what would have happened if we’d all gone maskless before the vaccines — we could finally find out who was right.

So, let me send a message to the future – and being that these commentaries are posted to MyNorthwest, the future will be able to read this – I invite you future people to just ignore the next pandemic in the interest of science, to see how you do compared to us.

Just make sure at least some of you stay alive long enough to write up the results.
