They have made our lives miserable

There’s been a lot of discussion lately about hate, symbols of hate, and how hate is tearing this country apart. But I think there is one group we can hate which actually deserves it. A group that’s been making our lives miserable by their persistent misbehavior.

“A cyber attack of epic proportions,” screams out across news outlets.

“Cyber criminals stole 19.7 million social security numbers,” another report states.

“Two thirds of the U.S. population are affected by this breach,” yet another news story reports.

Data hackers; I can truly say I have come to hate anybody who hacks data.

It’s not just the violation of privacy. It’s because they have forced us all to live like secret agents with passwords, pin codes, encryptions, permissions, and never-ending security questions about pet names, birthplaces, and favorite teachers.

Even your home computer can’t afford to trust you. Over the weekend, I was trying to move a file from one home computer to another. My own computers wouldn’t do it. In fact, they told me to contact my network administrator &#8212 which is me. I immediately gave myself permission, but it was of no use. I’ve had these computers for at least five years, but each new security update just makes them angrier. And it’s because of the bleeping data hackers. And that’s why they’re the one group that I think everyone can safely hate.

In fact, I believe, in my heart, that every time you hear a report like this: “An Israeli who hacked Madonna’s computer gets 14 months in prison,” an angel gets his wings. Provided he can remember his first grade teacher’s shoe size.
