Dave Ross Commentary – Listen: Why we love the royal wedding

Well husbands, you very likely woke up alone this morning … your wife off watching television, having set the alarm for 4 a.m; 1 a.m. Pacific.

By the way — don’t be surprised if she goes out and buys a hat now.

I know — “No one cares about the Royal Wedding” — unless you’re female. Although secretly, I think a lot of guys snuck a few glances too.

Even straight guys.

Did you see that crowd outside Buckingham palace? Lately when we’ve seen crowd pictures…

They haven’t been happy crowds.

But outside Buckingham Palace — there were thousands of people, calmly following the instructions of the police, all gathered for one reason — to see a kiss!

Think about that!

There’s the old saying “May you live in interesting times” but that’s only a blessing for those of us in the news business. To NORMAL people, it’s a curse.

Once you’re settled and have a family, what you want — is STABILITY. Everything predictable, organized, peaceful, trouble-free. It never quite happens that way, but that’s still the dream:

For the sun to come up on time, with just enough rain for the crops to grow.

You don’t want tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis.

You don’t want recession, revolutions, ego-maniacal leaders.

No. You want what the royal kiss represents: an orderly succession — domestic tranquility. That’s what people cheer for! To live protected lives, raise happy children, and when the time comes — retire with full medicare and social security benefits.

Especially that last part, Congress!

Ross: Voters weren’t just voting for change, they were voting for a hormone

The more I read the post-election analysis, the more I’m convinced voters weren’t just voting for a change – they were voting for a hormone.
