“Why WOULDN’T I Leave?” Mayor Resigns After Blasting WA Policies
A Washington mayor is stepping down—and leaving the state entirely. Lake Stevens Mayor Brett Gailey resigned effective Sunday at midnight and is relocating with his family to Boise, Idaho.
In a blunt statement, Gailey pointed to what he calls the “encroachment of Olympia” on local communities and personal finances, asking: “Why WOULDN’T I leave?”
