Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital has treated its first patients at its newly expanded Outpatient Center in Tacoma.
The recent opening of the expansion marks the final part of the new, 250,000-square-foot pediatric hospital. The outpatient facility has 85 exam rooms, 10 infusion bays, three sedation rooms, two X-ray units, and a special radiation-reducing imaging system that is the first of its kind in Pierce County.
The new system, according to the hospital, is an advancement in orthopedic imaging and offers a lower dosage of radiation, which is better for children who need to undergo routine scans and can lower potential cancer risks.
Patients at the facility can also access care for issues such as chronic illness, asthma, diabetes, and other ailments.
