Three people were killed and two others injured on Highway 20 near Sedro-Woolley Friday morning in a head-on collision.

State Trooper Mark Francis said one of the cars, believed to be an Audi with four people inside, crossed the center line.

Francis said, via Twitter, that two of the injured people were airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“A firefighter at the scene said she smelled the odor of alcohol on one of the occupants of the Audi,” Francis said. “The problem is we’re still trying to determine seat positions for the occupants of that Audi.”

Traffic was detoured to the South Skagit Highway from Highway 20 during the investigation.
