$30K in illegal fireworks found in Puyallup apartment complex

Jun 21, 2013, 1:09 PM | Updated: 1:12 pm

Neighbors at a Puyallup apartment complex learned Thursday night that they’d been living next to more than $30,000 in illegal fireworks stashed in three garages.

“The investigation led to the discovery of three large garages, approximately 10 x 20. A search warrant was obtained, and those garages contained a large cache of fireworks,” says Captain Ryan Portman with Puyallup Police.

Portman says that four units at the River Trail Apartments had to be evacuated as police cleared out the garages.

Authorities report it took an entire 25-foot moving truck to cart away all of the fireworks.

A 40-year-old Puyallup man is under arrest.
