Don’t you hate it when you’ve got your phone in your pocket and suddenly you realize your pants are calling someone? Some suspected thieves in Renton discovered “pocket-dialing” can have serious consequences.
Dispatchers didn’t know what to think at first when they got a call and heard no one on the other end.
But as they listened closer, they heard what sounded like a group of guys looking for a car to steal.
The Seattle Times reports the line stayed open for the better part of an hour. Four days later another call came in. The same voices were heard talking about a 4Runner that had been stolen.
Eventually cops connected the dots and tracked down 40-year-old Wesley Strom. The 40-year-old admitted to cops that his cell phone did call 911 every now and then.
The Seattle Times reports Strom was charged with illegal possession of two vehicles.
