A new Amazon facility in Fife, Washington, that’s set to open later this month, has started hiring.

Amazon says it is hiring more than 500 positions ahead of the launch of its 520,000 square-foot sort center in Fife. The facility will open later in October, in partnership with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and Marine View Ventures, the tribe’s economic development entity.

Employees at the sort center will help sort and ship packages for final delivery to customers.

“This is exciting news for the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and for Fife’s economic growth,” Fife Mayor Kim Roscoe said in a news release. “Amazon’s partnership with the Puyallup Tribe will add scale to city utilities, while their workforce payroll and professional development will be an asset for local workers now and in the future.”

In addition to Amazon’s starting wage of $18 per hour, the company provides full-time employees comprehensive benefits that include health, vision, and dental insurance, a 401(k) with 50% company match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave, and Amazon’s Career Choice program, in which the company will pay full college tuition for its front-line employees.
