One person is seriously injured and another in custody after a three-car crash troopers think was the result of racing.

It happened around 11 a.m. Thursday near Auburn as a Porsche 911 and Camaro raced on the eastbound lanes of SR-18 near Green River, said Trooper Chris Webb with the Washington State Patrol.

The Porsche rolled over and caught fire after losing control. The driver suffered a broken leg and internal injuries, said Webb.

The Porsche burst into flames, but a witness was able to put out the fire.

A third car that wasn’t involved in the racing was also struck and had minor damage.

According to Webb, the driver of the Camaro was taken into custody and the crash is being investigated as a vehicular assault.

The left two lanes of SR-18 remain closed through early Thursday afternoon for the investigation.
