A man reportedly attempted to abduct a woman at gunpoint late Sunday near the University of Washington.

The Seattle Police Department is investigating the attempted abduction, which occurred when the woman was walking home on NE 55th Street, near 15th Avenue NE.

The woman told detectives she noticed a man following her at around 10:15 p.m. As the woman passed an alley, the man ran up behind her and grabbed her arm. The man drew a handgun and told the woman to come with him.

When the woman refused to go with the man, he threatened to shoot her, according to the police department.

Two witnesses walking down the street reportedly startled the suspect, who ran away.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-20s. He is approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall with blue eyes and a “scrawny” build.
