Black Friday may not be the big holiday shopping kickoff it once was, as stores will look a little different this year.

Many stores refused to start their Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving Day so that employees can spend the day with their families.

Costco, Target, Walmart, PCC, and Trader Joe’s are a few of the stores that were closed Thursday.

There’s a reason why Black Friday is becoming less climactic. Consumers are beginning their holiday shopping earlier, in part because of supply chain issues.

“Instead of becoming the first day of the holiday shopping season, Black Friday has almost become the last round,” said RetailMeNot editor Kristin McGrath to KIRO Newsradio.
