Oct 30, 2013, 5:31 PM | Updated: Oct 31, 2013, 7:39 am

Seven people were transported to Virginia Mason Medical Center late Wednesday afternoon for carbon monoxide poisoning after CO overwhelmed a northeast Seattle condominium complex.

A neighbor called 911 after smelling strong fumes at 13749 35th Ave. NE in Lake City.

A Seattle police officer who arrived first and a neighbor found two males unconscious and unresponsive in one of the units in the complex, said Seattle Fire Department spokesperson Sue Stangl. They were able to pull them from the unit.

The two were reportedly in critical condition. They were rushed to Virginia Mason’s hyperbaric chamber for emergency oxygen treatment. The officer, neighbor, and three others were also transported to Virginia Mason for evaluation.

The complex has been evacuated. Seattle police are investigating the cause.
