Couple convicted in Sedro-Woolley child death

A Skagit County jury on Monday convicted a Sedro-Woolley couple for the death of their adopted daughter.
The jury found Carri Williams guilty of homicide by abuse in the 2011 death of the Ethiopian girl, believed to be 13 years old at the time of her death.
They also convicted Williams’ husband Larry of manslaughter in the death of Hana Williams in the back yard of the family home in May 2011. She died of hypothermia and malnutrition. Prospectors say she was starved, beaten and forced outside as punishment.
Hana’s parents are accused of making her live in a closet, denying her meals, forcing her to go the bathroom in a Port-a-Potty outside the house, and beating her.
The night she died, she was found naked in her yard on a rainy night with temperatures in the low 40s.
The jury convicted both of first-degree child assault, for abusing their son, a 10-year-old boy who also was adopted in 2008 from Ethiopia.
Carri Williams faces up to 37 years in prison, her husband a maximum of just under 19 years. Sentencing is expected in mid-October.
A judge ordered Carri Williams held on $1.5 million bail.
