Fireworks officially on sale around the Puget Sound

Let the loud booms and celebrations begin because fireworks are officially on sale.
Stands opened Friday at noon and will continue selling the mortars, fountains, and sparklers through July 5 at 9:00 p.m, which is in accordance with state law. Stands on tribal lands have already been open for a few days.
Deputy State Fire Marshal, Lysandra Trejo, says safety is paramount when lighting off fireworks, especially with young children around.
“Don’t take any chances, remember that although Fourth of July only happens once a year, these devices can cause life altering injuries that can last a life time,” says Trejo.
She says the only fireworks that are legal to light are ones purchased from licensed fireworks stands. Fireworks purchased online are illegal to obtain and light.
Illegal fireworks include M-80s, M-100s, cherry bombs, tennis ball bombs, IEDS, and legal fireworks that are altered. Only legal on tribal lands are firecrackers and chasers, bottle rockets, missiles and rockets.
Possession of illegal explosive devices, including altered legal fireworks, is a felony.
Fireworks fun facts (from the State Fire Marshal):
-Sale of fireworks is prohibited to persons under the age of 16 years.
-Sleeping inside a retail fireworks stand or temporary fireworks storage site is prohibited.
-No fireworks may be discharged within 100 feet of a retail fireworks stand.
-No smoking within 20 feet of a retail fireworks stand.
