Former Seattle Schools manager gets 43 month prison term for theft scam

The man convicted of stealing nearly $170,000 from the Seattle School District was sentenced Friday afternoon to 43 months in prison.
A King County judge also ordered Silas Potter to repay $168,000 he diverted from the district to a dummy company he controlled while running minority programs.
Potter, 62, pleaded guilty earlier this year to 36 counts of theft. He headed two offices at the district that awarded contracts to small businesses and non-profit organizations.
Potter awarded contracts to two companies that performed little or no work while he and several associates took the money.
The operator of one of the non-profits, David A. Johnson, was convicted earlier this month of 30 counts of first-degree theft and six counts of second-degree theft. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 10.
