One person is dead after colliding head-on with a transit bus in Grays Harbor County, Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Katherine Weatherwax confirmed Sunday night.
Original reports from WSP placed five people inside the bus at the time of the crash, but that was later revised to four people: a driver and three passengers.
According to WSP’s report, the bus was heading south on SR 109 in the Hogans Corner area when an SUV heading north crossed into the southbound lane, and the two vehicles collided.
WSP confirmed that the SUV driver, a 45-year-old woman from Ocean City, died at the scene.
Trooper Weatherwax originally reported that all four bus occupants were unharmed in the crash, but a later report from WSP found that the bus driver, a 33-year-old woman from Aberdeen, was injured in the crash and taken to Harbor Regional Hospital. One of the three bus passengers, a 60-year-old man from Aberdeen, was also taken to Harbor Regional. The two other passengers were uninjured.
“Our hearts go out to all of those affected by this tragic incident,” Trooper Weatherwax wrote on X.
