Activists protesting the Trump administration and its policies and cuts are preparing for a rally this Saturday at the Shoreline-Edmonds border.

From 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., a Hands Off! rally will take place at the intersection of Highway 99/Aurora Avenue North and North 205th Street. The protest is being referred to as “A National Day of Action.”

“This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies,” Hands Off! stated. “Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop to the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country.”

The event on Saturday is being initiated by the group 50501, which stands for “50 Protests. 50 States. 1 Movement.”

“In all 50 states, local communities are taking action in their own way,” 50501 stated in a press release. “Some are rallying or marching in the streets. Others are hosting food drives, teach-ins, mutual aid pop-ups, or voter registration events. Wherever and however people show up April 19, one thing is clear: This movement is growing — and it belongs to all of us.”

Another event held by Hands Off!, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., is occurring in Lynnwood at the intersection of Highway 99 and 196th Street.

Hands Off! remains committed to nonviolent action during all of its events and protests.

On April 27, another event is scheduled—a sign-waving protest in Shoreline from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
