A Kentridge High School student has died following a multi-vehicle crash that happened as he drove to school in Kent Tuesday.

16-year-old Teagan McGinnis was driving on S. 208th Street when he was hit by another vehicle making a turn at the intersection. The crash caused him to lose control of the car and another vehicle struck him.

The crash happened just before 8:30 a.m. on S. 208th Street at 120th Place SE.

“The impact caused the high school student’s vehicle to lose control and cross into the westbound South 208th Street lanes of travel,” Kent Sergeant Robert Constant said. “A vehicle westbound on South 208th Street, driven by a 58-year-old Kent resident, was approaching the intersection and attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle, but subsequently struck the vehicle causing significant damage to both vehicles.”

McGinnis was kept on life support through Tuesday evening at Harborview Medical Center to prepare for organ donation.

The drivers of the two other vehicles, a 49-year-old Kent woman and a 58-year-old Kent woman, were taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
