Kitna’s 1-week NFL salary donated to 130 students in Tacoma

Appearing as a backup quarterback in the Dallas Cowboys’ final game of the season, former Seahawk and current teacher Jon Kitna earned $53,000.
As promised, Kitna promptly gave the one-week salary to his employer – Lincoln High School in Tacoma.
He told KING 5 that the money will be used to help 130 disadvantaged students. “They live up to the expectations that you set out there,” said Kitna.
Two years ago, when Kitna arrived at Lincoln, he had 100 kids in his football program and only 22 of them had a “C” average or above. Since then, student cumulative GPA has risen to 3.0.
“Kids that had no shot at graduating are graduating – and more importantly they are having a good impact in school and in the community around them,” said Kitna.
He teaches math and coaches the Lincoln High’s football team. His donation will provide students with food, clothing and tutoring.
