Lockdown lifted at four Edmonds schools after police activity

Sep 24, 2013, 2:28 PM | Updated: 3:13 pm

A lockdown has been lifted at four schools in the Edmonds District following police activity in the area.

A standoff situation is still active on 168th. Police say an intruder is believed cornered in a house. After a brief confrontation, the homeowner left the house.

Police have closed 168th between 52nd Avenue and 56th Avenue. A school district spokeswoman concedes that the traffic restriction will complicate dismissal.

The lockdown was in place at four schools: Meadowdale High School, Meadowdale Middle School, Meadowdale Elementary and Beverly Elementary School.

The lockdown started sometime before 2 p.m.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
