A man who allegedly attempted to steal two cars was shot and killed by Kirkland police Thursday morning.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious man in his 20s in the 11500 block of NE 118th Street at around 9:20 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, the man ran from police and attempted to steal a nearby car by pointing a gun at the driver. That didn’t work, so he tried to steal another, but then decided to run on foot.

Police tracked the man down to a business park near the Kirkland Municipal Court. An officer fired one shot, killing the suspect.

An investigation into the officer-involved shooting is currently underway.

No police were injured in the incident and no other injuries have been reported.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
