Marshawn Lynch’s false accuser charged

Oct 10, 2014, 2:15 PM | Updated: 4:33 pm

Bellevue’s city prosecutor has filed a criminal charge against the woman who falsely accused Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch of assault.

Jammie Lynn Ficarelli, 31, was charged Friday with making a false statement to a public servant, a gross misdemeanor.

Police recommended last week the charge be filed after determining Ficarelli lied to investigators when she told them Lynch punched her in the face at a Bellevue apartment after a late night of drinking.

Police say the woman mistook another man for Lynch after leaving the Blue Martini bar in Bellevue around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 10

The man invited her to his apartment, where they drank heavily, according to charging documents.

A security guard told police the woman appeared extremely drunk and chased the man near the building’s elevators. The woman also fell on her face, later blaming Lynch for the injuries.

Police quickly determined several days later Lynch had no involvement and was staying at a nearby hotel during the team’s training camp.

Ficarelli faces up to a year in prison and a $5,000 fine.
