Michael Bennett got his ride, the Seahawks got their return trip to the Super Bowl, and a Seattle Police Department bike cop has his ride back after the wild celebration that followed the Seahawks improbable come-from-behind NFC Championship victory.

Moments after the overtime touchdown from Russell Wilson to Jermaine Kearse triggered pandemonium on the field and in the stands, defensive end Michael Bennett grabbed a Seattle Police bicycle and began riding around the CenturyLink Field turf, prompting SPD to put out a humorous tweet asking him to just make sure he brings it back before the Super Bowl.

“We had a good giggle,” says Seattle Police detective Patrick Michaud. “It turned into a little bit of a circus, which is entertaining to watch.”

Michaud says the officer was fine with Bennett taking his two-wheeler for a spin, as long as he brought it back. After all, it was the officer’s ride home.

“It was definitely an unusual circumstance. However, when we’re presented with unusual circumstances, we rise to the occasion and we like to celebrate like anyone else.”

Not everyone was celebrating. One mom posted a video of her heartbroken 6-year-old bawling about the Packers loss. “And look at, now they’ve got a bicycle,” he wails as Bennett’s post-game ride was shown on TV.

“He was sooo upset. He literally cried for about 45 minutes,” his mom Kierra Yarbrough wrote in the comments.
