A woman found dead in a burned car near Black Diamond may have been part of a meth-fueled love triangle, according to probable cause documents released by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The remains of Denise Kay Grigsby, 39, were found inside the trunk of her Toyota Camry on May 6. Her cause of death was ruled a homicide; the result of a skull fracture and cerebral contusions.
On Friday, a man and woman were taken into custody in relation to the murder following a car pursuit with the Washington State Patrol.
According to court documents, the male suspect was in a relationship with Grigsby. He was also in an “on and off” relationship with the female suspect. On the evening of May 4, the three were at the female suspect’s home when an argument broke out between Grigsby and the male suspect, according to the documents. The fight became physical, and Grigsby was struck repeatedly in the head with a metal object. Both suspects then proceeded to use a metal rope and lanyard to strangle the victim.
According to court documents, the female suspect confessed to killing Grigsby and implicated the male suspect.
A bail hearing for the couple has been set for Monday afternoon.
