New speed cameras being installed in Seattle

New speed zone cameras are being installed outside five more schools in Seattle.
The first camera and sign went up on SW Roxbury in West Seattle this week. There will be two added on Roxbury, near Roxhill Elementary and Holy Family.
One will go up on South Orcas Street outside Dearborn Elementary, another on Yesler outside Bailey Gatzert Elementary, and one on NE 75th near Eckstein Middle School.
They won’t go live until September and the city won’t start issuing tickets until October. Once active, there will be nine school zone cameras in operation in Seattle. The city expects them to generate $8.6 million this year with more than $7 million of that going to pedestrian and bicycle safety projects.
