The Seattle Parks Department has a message for the Seattle fans that donated money to help fix what they broke.

“All of the 12s out there, we’ve reached our goal and are extremely grateful,” says Joelle Hammerstad with the Seattle Parks Department. “We are just bowled over and delighted by the generosity of the 12s and of the Seattle community. It’s just been amazing.”

Three women started a fundraising campaign to help the parks department repair the historic Pioneer Square pergola damaged in post-Super Bowl celebrations.

“Polite or not, there was a party foul in Pioneer Square,” wrote Amanda Gallagher Quinn, organizer of the effort on the crowdfunding site gofundme. “Let’s give the Parks Department some help in replacing the things we broke and show that the Seahawks truly have the best fans in the league.”

The page raised over $16,000 for the repairs, topping its goal of $15,000.

“It was incredible how fast the crowd funding source collected money. We were amazed,” says Hammerstad.

The extra money raised through the fundraising site will be used for other beautification projects.
