The search is over in Lakewood for a police narcotics K9 that ran away from his handler’s home during Thursday’s lightning storm.

The Lakewood Police Department says they found “Duke” in a woman’s yard not too far from his home.

An officer who partners with the narcotics dog noticed the Labrador Retriever mix was missing from his kennel, in the area of 208th Street and the Mountain Highway in Spanaway/Graham, on Thursday afternoon during the storm.

Police say Duke is in good health.

Duke has 6 1/2 years of service with LPD.
