A pub is on the hunt for a new place to operate before the City of Seattle demolishes its current location.

The city purchased the property at 8118 Greenwood Ave. North July 1, with the intention of turning it into park space.

“As Seattle’s neighborhoods grow, residents must have access to public amenities like parks,” said Mayor Ed Murray. “By adding this property, we’re increasing recreational opportunities for the Greenwood-Phinney community and creating more public space next to the new Greenwood Library for families and children.”

What are they building?

Bleacher’s Pub is the current tenant of the property. It will remain there under a short-term lease until it relocates, according to the city.

Manna Teriyaki, which operates at 8100 Greenwood Ave. North, is still looking for another building to relocate to, after the city purchased that property in 2012.

The land Bleacher’s sits on will double the size of Seattle Parks and Recreation property on Greenwood Avenue, which encompasses the block between North 81st and 82nd streets. In addition to the property purchased in 2012, it will offer .43 acres of new park space adjacent to the library.

The property was purchased for $1.7 million, pulling from the Parks and Green Spaces Levy.
