World renowned film critic Tom Tangney joins us for a review of “Shame.” Huffington Post reports some are hoping the film redefines the NC-17 rating.

Tom explains while the film was slapped with an NC-17 rating, Fox Searchlight isn’t trying to get it downgraded like most other studios.

“Fox Searchlight is taking that NC-17 and saying, you know what, we’re not going to fight it. We’re going to try to use it as a springboard to try to change our ideas about sex in movies what an NC-17 can actually be,” says Tom. “Instead of our scarlet letter, it’s going to be our badge of honor and they’re really running with it.”

Tom says it’s a really artistic movie.

“It’s so classically done, and so classically controlled and so understated that it’s really great.”
