Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) detectives are investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday after a man was found dead near 18th Avenue S. and 102nd Street S.
PCSO detective Josh Mills said deputies were called to the area a little after 6 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man believed to be about 30 years old with apparent gunshot wounds.
Deputies attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and forensics teams responded and began processing the scene and gathering evidence. The case is being investigated as a homicide, and Mills described the investigation as being in its early stages.
So far, there is no concrete suspect information and no one is in custody. However, Mills said investigators believe the situation is contained.
“We’re pretty confident there’s no … it’s fairly contained. There’s no danger to the public,” Mills said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact PCSO or 911.
