A registered sex offender has pleaded guilty to federal charges for sexually exploiting 10 girls between the ages of 12 and 16, federal prosecutors said Friday.

James “Jake” Harrison Newcomer, 28, posed as a teenage boy on social media and met victims across Washington and Oregon, authorities said.

The victims were from King, Kitsap, Snohomish, Lewis, Clark, Thurston, and Spokane counties, as well as Woodburn, Oregon, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

He was under state supervision following a 30-month prison sentence for child rape, but removed his electronic ankle monitor and fled custody in January 2024.

Authorities said the crimes occurred between February and April 2024.

“Newcomer connected with various teen girls via social media and then arranged to meet them in person,” the release said. “In those meetings, he gave girls drugs and alcohol and sexually assaulted them.”

According to the release, prosecutors and defense attorneys will recommend a 17-year prison sentence when Newcomer is sentenced Nov. 17.
