Who should raise the 12th Man flag ahead of first divisional round playoff game since 2019?

Ahead of the Seattle Seahawks’ divisional round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers Saturday, one question has been on fans’ minds all week: Who should raise the 12th Man flag atop the Space Needle?

“You asked the question, Gee, who should raise the flag?” KIRO host Ursula Reutin asked on “The Gee and Ursula Show.”

Listeners of the show texted in their replies, saying former Seahawks kicker Stephen “Hausch Money” Hauschka and former Seahawks punter Jon Ryan should raise the flag before the pivotal playoff game. Others volunteered former All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor to do the honors.

One listener, Joe from Snohomish, said former Head Coach Pete Carroll, the winningest coach in franchise history, should raise the 12th Man flag. He was recently fired from the Las Vegas Raiders after coaching one season with the franchise.

“I want to stop it right there,” KIRO host Gee Scott said. “If Pete Carroll were to do something like that, it would be just incredible. That’s why I say you save Pete Carroll for the NFC Championship game. That would be amazing. People would lose their minds to see something like that.”

So far this season, Curt Warner, Jim Zorn, Steve Largent, Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Bryan Millard, Robbie Tobeck, Max Unger, Rufus Porter, John L. Williams, Chad Brown, Darell Jackson, Brandon Mebane, Mack Strong, John Harris, Michael Sinclair, and Fredd Young have all raised the 12th Man flag.

This is the Seattle Seahawks’ first appearance in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs since 2019.
