Fed-Up Seattle Neighbors Block Streets Themselves

A north Seattle neighborhood has seen 95 shootings in the last two years — and this weekend, residents decided they couldn't wait for the city to act any longer.

Just off Aurora Avenue North near North 98th Street, neighbors placed large planters in the middle of their streets to block traffic coming in from Aurora. A letter attached to one of the barricades explains they're there to protect families, homes, and livelihoods. One resident says a bullet flew into his home just feet from his six-week-old son last week.
