Former Sheriff Gets Emotional Over Bend Shooting
A gunman forced his way into Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, and opened fire, killing three children and a teacher. Police arrived within three minutes. A community member followed the shooter inside and shot and killed him. As of this morning, there is no clear motive. And as of October 15th, this is the 52nd school shooting in the United States this year.
Former King County Sheriff John Urquhart joined Gee and Ursula in studio — and this one was personal. His best friend is a Bend police officer who responded to the scene. Another close friend has a fifth grader at that school. His police officer friend went and looked at the dead children because his own nephew also attended Silver Rail.
