The 17-Year-Old Fighting for Girls' Sports in WA
Tumwater High School senior Frances Staudt was just 15 years old when she chose to sit out her final sophomore basketball game rather than compete against a team with a transgender player — and she quickly found herself under investigation by the WIAA and her own school district for harassment and bullying.
Now 17, Frances joins John Curley to tell her story firsthand, respond to The Seattle Times editorial board's recommendation of a "no" vote on Initiative 638, and answer the claim that the number of transgender athletes in Washington is simply too small to matter.
