Firefighters in the Kent-Kangley area extinguished a commercial fire that broke out in a store and an adjacent smoke shop early Sunday morning.

The smoke and flames flared up at the Al Rayahin bakery and grocery store and the Star Vape Smoke Shop near 104th Street and Kent-Kangley Road.

The businesses are surrounded by a locked chain-link fence at night, causing crews with Puget Sound Fire to use circular saws to cut through the fence in order to reach the flames.

Once inside, they worked to extinguish the flames and search for hot spots.

Firefighters had to open up an exterior wall to reach the flames.
