Power has been restored in Kent after high winds caused a major power outage Tuesday afternoon, leaving nearly 7,200 residents without power.

Six separate outages were reported in the Kent area beginning at approximately 12:06 p.m., impacting a total of 7,205 Puget Sound Energy (PSE) customers, according to the PSE outage map.

PSE noted the cause of the outages was likely limbs, trees, or vegetation that made contact with power lines.

At 4:30 p.m., 141 customers were without power in Kent due to downed trees. In East Hill-Meridian, there were only four customers without power.

All power outages have since been fixed.

Kent outages spanned from Clark Lake Park to Sun Meadows Park

The outages spanned from Clark Lake Park and the East Hill neighborhood down to Sun Meadows Park near Auburn Mountainview High School.

PSE uses a four-stage plan to turn the power back on. The phases include reporting the outage, assessing any damage, assigning a crew, and lastly updating customers when a crew is on site actively restoring power.

Outage notifications and details can be found on the PSE outage map.
