Representing the culmination of millions of hours of labor, the renovation of the North Satellite location at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has concluded.

Built in 1973, the North terminal has finished the last phase in its remodel. Additions include expansion to 20 gates, 255,000 in added square footage, and tripled dining and retail space (new restaurants are expected this summer, including Tundra Taqueria, SEA Roast Coffee House, Pike & Pine, and Filson).

The remodel boasts retextured surfaces and new Pacific Northwest themed artwork, expanded viewing of the Olympic Mountains and added natural light, robust Wi-Fi, and a litany of creature comforts including private suites for travelling mothers.

With a nod toward conservation, the satellite has added the capacity to recapture rainwater for use in its washing facilities and state of the art, energy efficient lighting.

Local artists who contributed to the renovation project include Cable Griffith, John Grade, and Muse Atelier who worked on a number of digital, sculpture, and glass artworks including casts of reclaimed old growth cedar and Northwest natural environment.

The total project cost for Sea-Tac North terminal renovation was s $658.3 million, paid through a combination of airline fees and the airport’s development fund.
