Update:

The National Weather Service canceled its wind advisory for Sunday, but warned that strong gusts are possible through the I-5 corridor. The strongest winds hit north of Everett.

A High Wind Watch takes effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning for areas in Ocean Shores, Hoquiam, La Push, Neah Bay, Friday Harbor, Oak Harbor, Bellingham, and Everett.

Heavy rain amid the wind also caused concern over potential landslides. The National Weather Service reports that there is a “heightened threat of landslides through this weekend and could act to trigger a landslide or two.”

The wind was heavy enough to knock out power for San Juan County residents early Sunday.

Forecasters say strong winds are expected across Western Washington early Sunday through the evening hours.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for Everett north to Bellingham from Sunday 10am-6pm. Areas like Everett, Oak Harbor, and Bellingham could see gusts from 45 to 60 mph. Snapped limbs and power outages are possible.

Washington State Ferries issued a severe weather notice Saturday to ferry customers.

“This storm system is expected to bring heavy rains and high winds to Western Washington,” officials with WSF said in the notice. “In the event of extremely severe weather, customers can expect WSF to take precautions that will affect the sailing schedule.”

Meanwhile, the NWS issued a Special Weather Advisory for a heightened threat of landslides over the weekend. While this latest system to roll in early Sunday will not bring as much rainfull as the previous few weeks, forecasters warn the rain could maintain the heightened threat.

Additionally, many areas along local rivers are struggling with rising rivers and flooding. A flood watch remains in effect for Mason County until Sunday afternoon. The latest system is expected to produce 2 -3.5 inches of rain over the Olympic Mountains.
