There must really be a fountain of youth, considering the “classic” musicians still going strong as they bring their tunes to town.

It’s amazing the things Bela Fleck can do with a banjo. He’s joined by his stellar backing band the Flecktones for a four night stand at Jazz Alley through Sunday.

The devil may have gone down to Georgia, but he’s making a side trip to Tacoma, and you’ve got to wonder if Charlie Daniels sold his soul, considering he can still bring fire to a fiddle in his 70’s. You can catch him at the Emerald Queen Casino on Saturday night.

Also Saturday, another member of the AARP set brings one of the most anticipated shows of the year to the Tacoma Dome, as Roger Waters rebuilds, and tears down, the Wall. One reviewer said the $60 million production was the most amazing he’d ever seen, and well worth the triple digit ticket price. It’s sold out, but you can find tickets on Craigslist and Stub Hub, if you’re willing to pay the premium.

Meanwhile, in keeping with our theme of oldies but goodies, local favorites the Posies headline the Showbox at the Market Saturday night. Hard to believe Bellingham boys Ken Stringfellow and John Auer have been crafting their distinctive pop stylings since the mid 80’s.

You may remember their music from the charming Hugh Grant movie About a Boy. Badly Drawn Boy aka Damon Gough, brings his intimate songwriting to the Triple Door on Monday night. It’s a fine way to start your work week.

Coming up next week, it’s the return of post punk pioneers Killing Joke.

Sean’s Night Out: Memory Tapes at Chop Suey

The Chop Suey was packed with folks eager to see what Memory Tapes had to bring to the stage and seeing that it was a Tuesday night, that's definitely saying something about Dayve Hawk, the man behind the band.
