After 125 years in Washington, one family is calling it quits and his business has already left. Craig Rhyne—a fifth-generation Washingtonian and gold vendor—says a 10% tax on precious metals has forced him to move his business to Idaho. It’s the latest example fueling debate over whether Washington’s tax policies are pushing businesses out of the state. For 49 years, Washington Gold Exchange has served thousands of clients buying or selling precious metals. After the overturning of a law signed in 1985 banning taxes on precious metals, Craig’s business has officially become IdahoGoldExchange.net
