Did you hear the one about the politician and social media?

It’s not a joke. Microsoft today launched a social media platform for politicians.
Anyone and everyone running for office already has a website and most have fan pages on Facebook too. Now Microsoft is giving them another tool to reach potential voters and constituents called TownHall.
TownHall’s target audience is elected leaders who are looking for ways to collect feedback and gauge the interest on subjects voters care about. I played with the demo, and it’s far more complicated than the ultra-simple Twitter platform. But, discussions of the economy, health care and education do require more than 140 characters.
