Seattle Schools Superintendent Drops Teacher Pay Bombshell

Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Ben Shuldiner broke from the usual playbook — publishing an 8-page letter revealing exactly what teachers make, how many extra days they're paid for, and how long the Seattle Education Association waited to come to the table.

The bottom line: base pay of $118,000 plus TRI (time, responsibility, incentive) days brings the average teacher total to $142,584 — before benefits, stipends, or extra hours. The district has offered a minimum 8.8% raise over three years with no furlough days.

Jake and Spike read through the whole letter — and Spike calls it "a total public opinion dagger for the teachers union." Jake says if they strike after this, he'd be shocked.
