UPDATE: Brian Shook, owner of the Five Corners Hardware in Queen Anne, has pledged to provide all these tools for Puget Sound Labor Agency.

“It sounds like a really great organization that they’re working with,” Shook told KIRO Radio’s Ron and Don. “I have a 2-year-old of my own and so I can only imagine the difficult place that those families are in and it sounds like they are doing really great things to help those families.”

Shook suggested the money raised prior to his donation should still go to the organization because they will need more tools and supplies as they go through the holiday season.

A local nonprofit needs our help after thieves broke into a storage unit and stole thousands of dollars worth of tools used to build wheelchair ramps for families in need.

Q-13 reports there are eight families in Western Washington waiting to get wheelchair ramps, but the nonprofit, Puget Sound Labor Agency, says it won’t be able to install them without their tools.

A custom-built wheelchair ramp would normally cost a family thousands of dollars to build, but Puget Sound Labor Agency asks for the cost of materials.

Q-13 reports the thieves broke into the nonprofit’s storage units at the Port of Seattle in October, stealing about $5,000 worth of tools. Port police officers are investigating.
