CO Democrat: Women don't know when they're in danger of being raped

We all know that Republicans don't have a monopoly on men who say stupid things about women, it's just that most of the media seems unaware of this fact. The latest proof is found in Colorado where the debate over guns had one Democrat warning that women are too emotional to know if they're in danger of being raped... and besides, there are call boxes for them to get to if they need help.

    And you edited his words.What I heard from his comments is that people might get shot because someone "feels" danger rather then actually being in danger and that call boxes are available (everyone also has a cell phone) to call police.More guns on campus BAD IDEA

    There is NO evidence that women are likely to shoot someone for the wrong reasons, or due to being frightened. That's a Red Herring that Libs love to throw around with no actual real life evidence. In Fact, Statistics Show that you are more likely to be shot accidentaly by a Police Officer than you are to be shot accidently by a Concealed Weapon Holder. . Banning Guns From Campus -> BAD IDEA. . Why advertise that women are free victims for the taking?

    Don't think that just because the police are trained in the use of firearms that they are less likely to kill an innocent person. A University of Chicago Study revealed that in 1993 approximately 700,000 police killed 330 innocent individuals, while approximately 250,000,000 private citizens only killed 30 innocent people. Do the math. That's a per capita rate for the police, of almost 4000 times higher than the population in general. OK, that is a little misleading. Let's just include the 80,000,000 gun owning citizens. Now the police are down to only a 1200 times higher accidental shooting rate than the gun-owning population in general. That still sounds high. So let's look at it in a different light. According to a study by Newsweek magazine, only 2% of civilian shootings involve an innocent person being shot (not killed). The error rate for police is 11%. What this means is that you are more than 5 times more likely to be accidentally shot by a policeman than by an armed citizen. But, when you consider that citizens shoot and kill at least twice as many criminals as do police every year, it means that, per capita, you are more than 11 times more likely to be accidentally shot by a policeman than by an armed citizen. That is as low as I can get that number.

    Interesting. Although the Chicago study doesn't seem to take into account that cops are three kazillion times more likely to pull a hog-leg to take care of business, the Newsweek study does. It's only fair if actual shootings are counted. What would be even more interesting is the theories as to why.

    The point of the post, and referenced study, is to show that the Idiot State Senator is talking through his hat. . Liberals always love to legislate on Could Bes that have NO BASIS in actual fact. . The statistics show that the women he is so worried will shoot willie nillie are Less Likely to do so than a so called "Trained" police officer. Where the study was done, or by whom, as well as its implications regarding police work, is not relevant to the discussion at hand.
