When members of a Kirkland community need help putting food on the table, Radonna Nelson and her “free little pantry” are there to help. The pantry, and Radonna, are there if a need arises before payday, if someone needs extra help with baby formula or just can’t make ends meet to put a healthy meal on the table that day.
Having known what it is like to go to bed hungry, Radonna puts in countless hours a day shopping, organizing and collecting donations for the pantry. Her Rose Hill neighbors can frequent the pantry anytime, no questions asked, when they need a helping hand.
KIRO Radio and WSECU are proud to honor Radonna Nelson as a Hometown Hero and award her with $2,000 for her selfless investments into her community. If you know someone who invests in their hometown, nominate them as a Hometown Hero here.
