Find out how KIRO Radio hosts will vote in November’s election.

US Senate – Susan Hutchison or Maria Cantwell?

Burns

Dori Monson-  Hutchison. Stronger on the issues. And, as Mark Twain said, “politicians and diapers must be changed often. And for the same reason.”

Burns

Gee Scott- Cantwell. I like so many things about her. One in particular is the provisions she introduced to combat the opioid epidemic. She wants to hold drug manufacturers accountable.

Burns

John Curley- Susan Hutchison. Susan is a friend of mine.

8th District – Dino Rossi or Kim Schrier?

Burns

Dori Monson- Rossi. Much more fiscally sound and responsible. And I don’t want two years of nonsense impeachment insanity.

Burns

Gee Scott- Kim Schrier. I love that she’s a pediatrician. She makes me feel as comfortable as I did as a kid when I went to go see my own.

Burns

John Curley- Dino Rossi. Dino is a friend of mine.

Seattle Prop. 1 – $6M education levy. Yes or No?

Burns

Dori Monson- No, No, NO. Property taxes just skyrocketed 17 percent in Seattle because of McCleary. This isn’t for the kids – it’s to subsidize the massive, unsustainable raises the teachers just got. This would raise property taxes another $300/yr. Stop the insanity.

Burns

Gee Scott- Yes. Add on to it.

Burns

John Curley- Anything involving raising taxes, vote no on. Think of yourself as someone dressed up like a Native American throwing tea in the harbor.

I-940 – More training for cops and deadly-use-of force measure. Yes or No?

Burns

Dori Monson- No. The “good-faith” standard is far too vague. We’re already seeing a lot of de-policing around our area as cop are prevented from doing their job and the criminals are taking over.

Burns

Gee Scott- Yes. Continue the training … in any profession.

Burns

John Curley- Absolutely not. If you really read it — it’s 30 pages long — it will stop police officers from doing their work.

I-1639 – Gun restrictions measure. Yes or No?

Burns

Dori Monson- No. We have one of the strongest state constitutions when it comes to individual rights. But here comes the mob with another attempt to take those rights away. This would reclassify most of the most popular self-defense and sporting guns into “assault weapons”. 18-20 year olds can carry weapons for our military but not in our state?

Burns

Gee Scott- YES, of course. I have kids. I have co-workers that I care about.

Burns

John Curley- It’s a nonsense, feel good piece of legislation that is virtually un-enforceable. Go ahead and vote for it to make yourself feel better.

I-1631 – Carbon fee measure. Yes or No?

Burns

Dori Monson- No. I’ve given the stats, data and math on my show. This would do ZERO for our planet – but would cost our state’s citizens billions of dollars. It would raise taxes at the gas pump, for home heating and for all electricity (including for businesses who would pass those costs along to us).

Every new tax that is put in place is eventually raised. This would cost the average family about $300/yr the first couple years – and eventually rise to around $800/yr. Again, for ZERO planetary benefit.

Do NOT give them a new tax toy to play with.

Burns

Gee Scott- No, don’t do that because I want to keep polluting the Earth. (Sarcasm!) YES, absolutely.

Burns

John Curley-  Say no to the carbon fee measure. If it costs a hundred trillion dollars to reduce the temperature by two degrees, it will have absolutely no effect. We’ll continue to have more climate change and we’ll be able to grow grapes in Oklahoma. Wine from Oklahoma!

I-1634 – Affordable Groceries measure. Yes or No?

Burns

Dori Monson- YES. Our state shouldn’t tax food items. It’s regressive and hurts the poor the most. This will ensure that doesn’t happen.

Burns

Gee Scott- Yes, as someone who used to be broke and who could barely afford groceries all the time. Yes, I want groceries to be affordable.

Burns

John Curley-  That’s a big push by folks that make sugary drinks wanting to be able to make sugary drinks. I’m OK with that. Free market, free people, more soda. So vote yes on that.

An earlier version of this voter’s guide mistakenly pegged the education levy in Seattle at $6 million.
