Northwest Planned Parenthood CEO talks health care changes
We now have had a look at the Congressional Budget Office report on the Republican plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act. One big chunk of the report focuses on defunding Planned Parenthood. The CBO estimates that excluding the organization from Medicaid reimbursement would lead to an increase of about $21 million in spending on Medicaid pregnancies in the first year alone.
Planned Parenthood Regional CEO Chris Charbonneau sits down for a one-on-one with KIRO Radio’s Kim Shepard to explain why the costs would be even higher over the long run, why the term “defunding” is a misnomer, and some of the unintended consequences a repeal could have on the Seattle area.
